چکیده
In this paper, two different finite differences schemes are presented for numerical solution of two-dimensional moving boundary problem. The methods are illustrated by solving sample problem in two-dimensional solidification of the square prism. The finite difference schemes developed for this purpose are based on the method of lines using interpolation polynomials. The fully explicit method developed here which has reasonable accuracy, and Peaceman and Rachford alternating direction implicit (ADI) formula illustrated by solving sample problem. The accuracies of the resulting methods are verified by numerical testing. The numerical results are obtained by present methods are compared with earlier authors. 2004 Elsevier Inc. Phase change materials are substances that absorb and release thermal energy during the process of melting and freezing. This characteristic makes phase change material (PCM) a favourite choice to integrate it in buildings. متن کاملOptimal Pareto Parametric Analysis of Two Dimensional Steady-State Heat Conduction Problems by MLPG Method
Numerical solutions obtained by the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method are presented for two dimensional steady-state heat conduction problems. The MLPG method is a truly meshless approach, and neither the nodal connectivity nor the background mesh is required for solving the initial-boundary-value problem. The penalty method is adopted to efficiently enforce the essential boundary co...
متن کاملAn Experimental and Theoretical Study of Freezing of Pure Aluminum
In this work, Boltzmann transform has been used to analyze the problem of freezing of pure Aluminum in semi-infinite domain. The uniqueness of solution (solidification front location) has been proved using the characteristics of the functions appeared in solution. The effect of density change on temperature distribution and errors resulting from ignoring this change have been investigated. The ...

A mixed semi-analytical cum numerical approach is presented in this paper which accounts for the coupled mechanical and electrical response of piezoelectric, functionally graded (FG) and layered composite hollow circular cylinders of finite length. Under axisymmetric mechanical and electrical loadings, the three-dimensional problem (3D) gets reduced to a two-dimensional (2D) plane strain proble...
متن کاملA Consistent and Accurate Numerical Method for Approximate Numerical Solution of Two Point Boundary Value Problems
In this article we have proposed an accurate finite difference method for approximate numerical solution of second order boundary value problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions.
